Rules
What is the TST?
- The TST (Team Sumo Tournament), is a 2v2v2v2 sumo tournament. Similarly to the Ladle, it is designed to be played in one day (taking about 2 hours to finish.) Also like the Ladle, the TST follows a pattern on when it takes place.
- All rounds, except the finals, are separated in two independent parts. In each part four teams will fight against each other in four different servers. Whoever wins two matches moves to the next round. First part starts 45 minutes earlier than part two.
- The finals are played 2v2v2v2, the four teams being the top two(first and second to win 2 matches) teams of each match from the semi-finals. The first team winning three matches will be declared the overall winner.
When is the TST?
- The reference time is GMT. GMT observes neither Daylight Savings time nor Summer Time. GMT is on a 24 hour clock as opposed to a 12 hour clock.
- See the Challenge Board section for playing times.
The Teams:
- A team consists of two players, a captain and a partner.
- You can switch partner or captain once the registration is closed by sending me a Private Message, or at last minute depending on server administrator, see the Matches section. Teams can only switch a teammate one time.
- Players can not play for more than one team.
- Teams can forfeit at any time by checking the forfeit button in the sign up form.
If the said Team forfeited after the announcement of the final Challenge Board, the team won’t be replaced.
Registration:
- Registration can be done on this site while registration is open and only this way. Registration through other means is considered invalid.
- Each Team will register by filling the form at http://tst.armagetron.co.uk/sign-up/
Any sign up request judged as incomprehensible, reporting fake information, or not done through other means than those cited above will be considered invalid. - Organizers can leave a note saying if a registration attempt is valid or not.
Challenge Board
- Teams are stuck to the Challenge board and no switching can be done.
- In case a player from a team is bound to play on a server that he hosts at home, he will be manually switched to another server by the organizer.
- The Challenge Board is organized as following:
- Each server gets an automatically-generated random number, and are sorted from the smallest to the bigger number
- The first 4 teams who registered and stated they want to play on an US server are bound to the American server.
- Then all the other teams, including those who stated they wanted to play on an US server but aren’t one of the 4 first teams to do so, get an automatically-generated random number as well, and are sorted from the smallest to the bigger number.
- Then, these Teams are assigned to the servers in the simplest way there is: first 4 go on first server, those from 5 to 8 on the 2nd server, etc.
- These automatically-generated random numbers, along with the script used to generate them, can be requested.
Matches:
- Teams must be punctual and come at the scheduled times. A team that doesn’t show up is considered a forfeit.
- If only one member shows up he can either choose to play alone, to forfeit, or to look for a new teammate. If he chooses the latter he has 5 minutes (starting from the normal schedule time) to find a new teammate.
- If his Partner comes late, he can rejoin the game, unless the team has forfeited.
- These two preceding rules can be ignored by server administrators if they think it wouldn’t be beneficial to the match being played. It is the admin’s decision and it cannot be discussed; you should just make sure you arrive on time and not only rely on these rules instead.
- First to win 2 matches wins the Round.
- Winning a Round(made of 2 or more Matches) leads to the next stage.
- In the Finals, the winner is the first who wins 3 matches.
Servers
- The behavior of all servers participating in the TST will be exactly the same, using settings which are provided by us to the server administrators. Additional changes are NOT allowed.
- The settings will be communicated as an RINCLUDE to be included from our resource repository. They can be included like this:
RESOURCE_REPOSITORY_CLIENT http://epsy46.free.fr/resource/ RESOURCE_REPOSITORY_SERVER http://epsy46.free.fr/resource/ RINCLUDE epsy/sumo/TST/tst-2010.09-1.cfg
- Servers will have their names set in this form:
0x991010TST 0x99999920100x991010.0x99999909 - 0xRESETTYour name here0x999999's
- Exceptions to this rule are settings regarding team management, other than team and player per team limits.
- TST staffers should be given Administrator status for the length of the tournament. They should be given the right to edit all settings except access level-related ones. The official configuration will already include this behavior.
